Why should I get licensed ?
Before you can get on the air, you need to be licensed and know the rules to operate legally. U.S. licenses are good for 10 years before renewal. In the U.S. there are three license classes—Technician, General and Extra. The Grand Strand Amateur Radio Club offers exam sessions for anyone wishing to get the Technician entry level license or wanting to upgrade their existing license. Pre-registration for the exam session is requested but not required, walk-ins are also welcome.
A free, weekly, live, Amateur Radio Technician Class Licensing course on Zoom will begin on Thursday, Sept 5, and will run through Thursday, October 17, (7 sessions). The three-hour sessions will start at 6:30 PM Eastern Time. These are the classes that have been held for years sponsored by the National Electronics Museum. Please publicize this with anyone you know that you think would be interested. Those wishing to sign up should email - roland.anders@comcast.net.
