All members of the GSARC,
On behalf of the entire Field Day Committee I would like to thank each and every one of our members for their participation in 2016 Field Day. We had participation by over thirty attendees, most of which were club members. That is almost 1/3rd of all club members. We would like to thank those club members who brought guests, you never know if we might get a few more members that way.
We feel that this year’s event was a rousing success. It is because of the entire club’s participation in the event, that makes whatever effort we had to put into this all worthwhile. I would like to thank all those members who came early in order to set up canopies and antennae, and whatever other things you did to make this an outstanding event.
It seems we cannot get a break from the Weatherman. Sorry to say this event had to be called short, due to impending thunderstorms and possible lightning. We faced this same problem last year. Maybe with a little luck we can through a whole event next year.
At this point, I would like to thank Gordon, W4EGM, for the fine PR work done as the club PIO. Also a big thanks to Rick,WB4LZW, and Larry, W2FTV,for the repairs on the Club generator in the waning hours leading up to the event. Thank you Bob, KK4KSY and Larry for
making up the 100 foot lengths of coax, sure made things easier on Saturday. Mike Hammel, KM4FWT, graciously offered his generator for club use for this event, and the grounding rods and assorted and sundry other pieces of equipment we could not have operated without. Matt, Af4UZ, gave continuous support in sorting through some of the equipment and dipole antennae at the Red Cross. He also solved the problem of dealing with hot coals at the end of the event by supplying a Coleman Gas Stove, and finally he manned the grill in cooking lunch for everybody. Also thank you Rick for picking up all the food for the event and successfully keeping everybody hydrated.
I would be remiss if I did not thank Gary, K5GLB, for the Fox Hunt. I know there were many who attempted to find the “Fox” and quite a few were successful. This kept many people quite busy for many hours. And last but not least, I must thank David, KM4BYN, who assisted me in locating Gary’s Pumping Station office and allowing us to get delivery of the privy to the proper location.
Thank you all for your help and participation.
