Emergency Communications Courses Online! - As part of their Certification and Continuing Education program, the ARRL is now offering three courses online: Introduction to Emergency Communications Course (EC-001), Public Service and Emergency Communications Management for Radio Amateurs (EC-016), and ARRL Public Relations (EC-015). On-line courses open regularly once a month, with registration available on the Web. The cost for these classes is $50.00 for ARRL members, and $85.00 for non members. For more information and registration, go to  http://www.arrl.org/online-courses Prerequisites for EC-001 course include ICS-100 (IS-100) and IS-700. These clases are available online for free from FEMA at http://training.fema.gov/IS/NIMS.asp


 




Skywarn nets are initiated any time the National Weather Service issues a severe weather alert. The nets are conducted on the following repeaters:
  • Primary - Conway 147.090 MHz (+) (PL Tone 123 Hz)
  • Secondary - Myrtle Beach 146.655 MHz (-) (PL Tone 123 Hz)  (This repeater is currently off line.  Please use 145.110 MHz/85.4 as temporary alternate.)

South Carolina ARES/RACES  HF nets are held on the First/Third Monday nights of every month at 1800 hours local on 3.9935 MHz. All amateurs licensed for this frequency are invited to participate.


 

The Horry County ARES/RACES  2 meter net meets on the Fourth Wednesday night of every month at 2000 hours (8 PM) local on 147.285 MHz (PL 85.4). All amateurs licensed for this frequency are invited to participate.

 


 

The Horry County ARES/RACES  2 periodically conducts emergency communications training at the Surfside Beach Fire Station. This normallt occurs on the 4th Saturday of each month at 10 AM, but the date may vary with the availability of the training room and other conflicts with scheduled events. Please check the Events Calendar on this website to verify dates for upcoming training. Dates will be posted as they are confirmed and locked down.
