BEACHFEST 2016 Review

General News
Friends,

Just a brief note to thank everyone for coming together for another great BEACHFEST.  Edward and Buddy did a great job pulling this all together and as usual, our club jumped in to perform whatever tasks were needed.  Personally, I had a Fantastic time! This was the third BEACHFEST I have attended and for the third time, I heard comments wishing we had more vendors, more attendees, more customers.  It is impossible to know why the event wasn’t bigger…. After the recent hurricane, flooding and crazy election, there are lots of other things on people’s minds.

From my perspective, any event that brings Hams together is a great success. It’s nice when the event brings in significant money for the club, but BEACHFEST isn’t just about the money.  We had many people express interest in joining the club.  We cleaned out lots of bulky and obsolete items from the Red Cross building and turned it into cash.  Members participated in VE testing and upgraded their licenses.
Members sold equipment and purchased new items. We made new friends, got reacquainted with folks we haven’t seen in a while and had fun!  The benefits to the club are huge and go well beyond the balance sheet.

Let’s plan to discuss BEACHFEST at the GSARC Monthly Meeting on December 5th and let’s come up with a few ideas to make Beachfest even better next year.

Edward, thank you again for a job well done!

73s.
