GSARC Repeaters Access

Due to constant interference on the GSARC Repeater network it was suggested to implement PL tone on all the receivers.  This was brought before the membership at the March 2008 meeting in the form of a motion and the results of the vote was unanimous to comply with, one condition was to have the PL tone of 85.4 Hz  announced.  Effective April 1, 2008 this change will be implemented.  Please pass this information to all on any nets you may check into whether they are local or otherwise.

Sunday Night Net Frequency Change

At the May 2007 Monthly Club meeting the membership unanimously voted to keep the proposed change for the Sunday Night Net to be continuously held on the 147.330 (PL tone 85.4Hz) repeater.

The currently scheduled Noon Time Net that is held at 12:30 on each Wednesday has had very little activity and it was to decided to continue but without a scheduled Net Control Station.  With that being stated, if you are available around that time just give a shout and enjoy the camaraderie of whomever joins in.

South Carolina ARES Net

Nets are held on the first and third Monday of every month at 6:00 PM local time.  Net Frequency is 3993.5 kHz with an alternate of 3990 kHz.  For more information follow this link to the SC Section ARES webpage.

Skywarn Update

The Georgetown, SC repeater (147.375) is now part of the K4SHP/AD4TZ Repeater Linking System.  During times of severe weather, a ham radio operator should receive and transmit a quality signal using that repeater from downtown Georgetown and rural Georgetown County when The Greater Horry County Skywarn is in activation.  This upgrade to the system was much needed to enhance coverage from Murrells Inlet to the Santee River on the Georgetown/Charleston County line.  Of course the NWS in Wilmington welcomes the upgrade as many more reports of severe weather can be passed from that area using Skywarn as one of its sources.  Once again a big thanks goes out to Jason Morgan (K4SHP) and Eddy Byerly (AD4TZ) for their time and efforts in making this all happen.

Here is an updated list of repeaters associated with K4SHP / AD4TZ Repeater Linking System.  All have a PL Tone as listed except the new 147.375.

        Frequency   PL Tone           Normal Coverage

146.655       123 Hz       The Grand Strand Beaches & Conway
147.090       123 Hz       Conway, Surfside Beach, Socastee, Loris & Rural Horry & Marion Counties
444.900       100 Hz       Conway, rural central Horry County
223.980       100 Hz       Conway, rural central Horry County
147.375                        Georgetown, Andrews, Pawleys Island, Georgetown County

Check Your License ! ! !

Don't get caught short.  KF4CJE, Jim sent me an email and asked that I post the following link.  http://wireless.fcc.gov/services/amateur/licensing/renewal.html  He apparently like most of us have not checked the expiration date on our FCC Amateur Radio License lately and he had to do a quick renewal, thanks to the technologies of today he was able to comply with this online and said it was a breeze.  I have taken the liberty to check all members call sign with the FCC site to see when your license expires and the list below is the result.  I will attempt to keep the list available and as the months approach I will alert you.
